WHAT IS AQLI

AQLI represents the novel advancement technique in measuring & and communicating the health risk imposed by a particulate matter present in air pollution

In simple words, we can say that AQLI helps us to find out the daily air quality It gives us a brief idea about the quality of air how clean or polluted your air is, and what associated health effects might be a concern for you.

 

Context/Why in News:

Recently AQLI reports suggest that air pollution shortens the lifespan of the residents of Delhi by around 11.9 years approx.

 

Key points of the report:

Our country faces the greatest level of health burden from air pollution among all the countries in the world.

In South Asia, Particulate matter has increased by 9.7 percent from 2013 to to2021

In India 5 level rose to 9.5 percent.

 

WHAT IS PARTICULATE MATTER (PM)

Particulate matter is the matter in which particles found in air like smoke, dust, dirt, soot, and liquid droplets remain suspended in the air for longer periods of time.
